Bulletproof Lexus LX 600 Takes Armored Luxury To New Heights

Luxury / Comments

Well, bullet-resistant if you want to get technical.

If you're the leader of a small dictatorship or perhaps a CEO of a major corporation, you may require more protection than the average luxury car can provide. That's why a company called Inkas Armored Vehicle Manufacturing takes popular vehicles and equips them with armoring and security features. Inkas recently revealed an armored Toyota Land Cruiser, but that model is sadly no longer offered in the US market. Don't fret though, because Inkas has now turned its sights on the more luxurious 2022 Lexus LX 600 SUV.

Like the Land Cruiser, the LX is powered by a new 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 sending 409 horsepower out to all four wheels through a 10-speed automatic. This is a huge improvement over the outgoing LX 570 with its aging 5.7-liter V8. This LX will certainly need every bit of its 479 lb-ft of torque because that bullet-resistant armor isn't light.

Inkas says its armored LX 600 offers ballistic protection to meet the CEN 1063 BR6 standard. It can withstand attacks from 7.62mm assault rifle ammunition, and explosions from two DM51 hand grenades, even if they are detonated simultaneously. The vehicle supplies full-perimeter protection, including a reinforced suspension system, door frame overlap, engine and fuel tank armoring, ballistic glass, run-flat tires, and underbody fortification. Customers can opt for several tactical add-ons, such as a siren, PA system, strobe lights, night vision cameras, heavy duty wheels, door assist systems, fire suppression systems, and emergency escape options.

"Despite the significant fundamental redesign Lexus made to the newest generation of its leading SUV, the Inkas team was eager to undertake the immense challenge of completely reengineering the core ballistic components and design of its earlier LX 570 armored model," said Margarita Simkin, Co-Founder and Chairwoman of Inkas. "I am thrilled to say that Inkas has successfully engineered the new armored LX 600 with meticulous precision, maintaining the integrity and exacting quality that both Inkas and Lexus are renowned for."

Inside, the LX retains all of its luxury features, including the new dual-screen infotainment setup with features like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Buyers can start with any configuration they want, including the five-seat, seven-seat, or VIP four-seat layouts. Though there are no power upgrades available, Inkas is working on a new 10-piston heavy duty braking system that will be available for the armored LX by the end of 2022. This should help bring the LX's immense bulk (plus the weight of the armoring) to a halt much easier.

The Inkas LX 600 is now available for delivery worldwide to all major ports, or the company will even airfreight the vehicle upon special request.
