Aston Martin is known for creating some of the world's most desirable and beautiful sports cars, such as the Vantage sports coupe. But under all the glitz and glamor, the British luxury carmaker has seen some truly stressful years. Despite a strategic partnership with AMG (it supplies the company with six- and eight-cylinder engines) and creating all-new models, financial issues have plagued the brand for some time.

But it appears a turnaround is in the cards for the Gaydon-based company, with Aston Martin America announcing incredible 2021 sales. In the 12 months through December 2021, the carmaker shifted 1,984 vehicles - a 115% increase year-over-year, cementing its position as the fastest-growing high-luxury automotive brand thus far. Globally, total sales tallied 6,178 in 2021, representing an 82% increase in sales over the last year.

The American market is significant to Aston Martin, accounting for 32% of the carmaker's total volume and 28% of its global revenue. These strong results are undoubtedly down to the DBX, with strong demand for the company's first-ever SUV. The recently revealed DBX707 will certainly continue this, the brand hoping its high-performance SUV will steal sales from the Lamborghini Urus and upcoming Ferrari Purosangue. The ultra-luxury SUV holds an estimated 20% global market share within its segment.

The British automaker also notes the uptick in sales is down to internal changes, led by Executive Chairman Lawrence Stroll and CEO Tobias Moers. One of these changes was the appointment of Adam Chamberlain as the Americas Regional President, who was brought in to maintain the company's growth under the "Project Horizon" transformation plan.

"On the back of today's excellent sales figures, we have a lot to look forward to in 2022 and in the years to come, with retail demand for our brand in the Americas at an all-time high," said Chamberlain.

Fresh off a 2021 high, Aston Martin has no intentions of slowing down. With the DBX707 starting the year off with a bang, the brand is also delivering the Aston Martin Valkyrie, a car it describes as "the most extreme road-going car ever."

Chamberlain added that Aston Martin the Americas is also preparing an immersive brand experience in Midtown Manhattan this year. "Our brand is [also] benefitting from its second season in top-level motorsports with the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula OneTM Team."

For Aston Martin's sake, we truly hope the 2021 sales success is just the beginning of better days for the brand. Stroll has previously said the updated models (due sometime this year) will be like all-new models. With these exciting changes in mind, the rather dated range may just get the shot in the arm it sorely needs.
