AMG E63 Sedan

Mercedes recently lifted the veil on its new E-Class sedan. And while that's all well and good, what enthusiasts are really looking forward to is the AMG version. Fortunately that's just what Csaba Csere was invited to check out as Mercedes is testing the new E63 AMG in California. Car and Driver's veteran editor wasn't allowed to drive the prototype, but he did get to ride along as AMG's executive and development chiefs gave him some delicious tidbits of information on what to expect from the next-generation German performance sedan.

The new E63 AMG will benefit from the restyled E-Class sedan's upgrades, but is expected to look much different from the vehicle you see here. Like E-Class Sport, the hood ornament moves off the top and onto the grille, underscored by what looks like a rather F1-like lower bumper that looks poised to make the AMG model stand out from its more common brethren.

As we already know, the new E63 is getting an AMG-tuned version of Mercedes' 4Matic all-wheel drive system to channel the power to all four wheels for the first time in anything shorter than an SUV to roll out of Affalterbach. Check out the twelve-minute video for more info, including how exactly Csaba Csere pronounces his name.
