Cadillac has just taken the wraps off its new CT6, which will act as its flagship sedan in China. The CT6 and Chevrolet's Impala were culled from the American lineup in 2019, but in China, Cadillac's badge still holds considerable sway, and big luxurious sedans are highly popular.

Sedans don't come much bigger than the new CT6, which measures 205.6 inches in length and has a width of 74.4 inches. Height is just under 58 inches, but the metric that will be most important in the CT6's target market is the wheelbase, which is a segment-leading 122.4 inches long, offering loads of rear legroom and a sense of status.

Everything Cadillac says about this car, its new GT4, and the refreshed XT4 points to luxury, but the XT6 is especially focused on that element. The exterior styling is not particularly revolutionary - the rear is very much like that of the old car or even the CT5 - but it looks long and elegant, with several chrome accents found around the glasshouse, at the exhaust tips, and between the taillights.

The front grille takes the shape of the Cadillac chevron and adds a parametric pattern to the mesh. Vertical headlights mirror the taillamps, while the new horizontal turn signals illuminate outward in a swiping gesture. At the back, the center high-mounted stop light is a full-width unit. It's cool, but Audi, Mercedes, BMW, Porsche, and pretty much every other luxury automaker have already done this, so it would have been nice to see a new way of signifying premium design.

Inside, buyers get a curved 33-inch screen, as is common on other Cadillac products, but the cabin should feel more special with its semi-aniline Nappa leather (in Jet Black, Whisper Beige, or the new Renaissance Red), contrast stitching, quilting, and perforations. Trim elements arrive in open-pore dark ash wood with a tambour door, while knurled metal accents provide some jewelry. The customary AKG sound system features a brushed dark-tinted finish on the stainless steel covers and bright chrome accents, further uplifting the ambiance. Speaking of, 26 colors can be scrolled through for the interior lighting system.

Super Cruise is offered, too, and Cadillac expects drivers to have some fun driving the CT6, as it boasts 50:50 weight distribution and MRC 4.0 suspension. Sadly, only one engine is available, and it's a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder producing just 233 horsepower.

Pricing ranges from RMB 359,700 for the base trim to RMB 469,700 for the top offering (roughly $50,854 to $66,406).

At that price, would you consider the CT6 if it returned to America?
