And it's ready to take on the world of GT3 racing.
Cadillac has absolutely no intention to lose, both on and off the track. It's targeting its German rivals with an all-new lineup consisting of luxury and, just as important, high-performance. And now it's taking that fighting spirit to the race track. Presenting the Cadillac ATS-V.R, the next generation of the automaker's elite, high-performance race car that'll begin competition in 2015. Based off the recently teased ATS-V Coupe, the ATS-V.R has up to 600 horsepower and meets international FIA GT3 specifications.
It'll be going up against GT3 competitors from Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, and Porsche. Eligible to partake in more than 30 different GT series worldwide, the ATS-V.R "is the highest expression of Cadillac's rising product substance," according to brand president Johan de Nysschen.
Powered by the same twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6 as the road-going version, the ATS-V.R features additional technical upgrades for the GT3-spec category such as increased capacity intercoolers, competition engine management and a direct, side-exiting exhaust. Thanks to the lightweight aluminum block and heads counterbalanced by a unique rear transaxle, weight distribution comes in at 49/51, front/rear. Other mods include an aero kit, carbon fiber front splitter, and 18-inch racing tires. Yep, Cadillac is proving to be pretty bad ass these days.
