7:41:27 is all it took for the flagship Camaro ZL1 to run the Nordschleife.
The Chevy Camaro ZL1 has just accomplished a 7:41:27 lap of the Nurburgring. The famed German track has become a proving ground of sorts as of late and the American automaker has just put up a great time on the Nordschleife. The Camaro ZL1 is equipped with a 6.2-liter V8 that can put out a serious 580hp and a torque of 556lb-ft. The improvement Chevy has made on their flagship model is incredible to say the least.
The Camaro SS ran the Nurburgring in a time of 8:20, about a 40 second improvement. The time is unofficial, however it has been endorsed by General Motors' North American Chief Mark Reuss. The time carries some added weight, as it it's a slight four hundreths of a second better than the Porsche 911 Turbo S. That's big news for GM over their German rivals. "We were over there driving it, (and working on) final calibration and validations of the thermal capability, and then we recorded our lap time of 7 minutes and 41 seconds," said Reuss. The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 will hit showrooms towards the end of this year.
