Ford and Chevrolet are rivals in the automotive industry, which is sort of the same vibe between the Lakers and the Celtics. The creative minds behind Hoonigan thought of reliving the rivalry between the two American car brands through a drag race. But, to add a bit of spice and excitement to its This vs. That series, it it pitted a sports car against a truck.

The head-to-head matchup was originally between a 2010 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport (C6) and a 2018 Ford F-150 Raptor. The drag race was hyped up with a brief walkaround prior to the race.

Unfortunately, the truck had bad luck as its engine exploded at the starting line. The Ford F-150 Raptor is equipped with a 5.2-liter twin-turbo V8 Coyote engine swap that can put out 1,017 horsepower.

Thankfully, a Ford F-150 Raptor R was on the sidelines, which naturally substituted the wasted truck to take on the C6 Corvette.

The C6 Chevy Corvette is powered by a 6.2-liter engine that delivers 550 hp and weighs 3,330 pounds with a six-speed manual transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. This Corvette debuted in 2009 with wide-body styling and a racing-bred suspension that delivers a great balance of road and race track performance, according to Chevrolet.

The Ford Raptor R, on the other hand, is equipped with a 5.2-liter V8 engine that puts out 700 hp and weighs 6,000 pounds with a 10-speed automatic and a four-wheel drive. Of note, the said V8 engine is also found on the Mustang Shelby GT500. This truck was launched last year and Ford regarded it as the most powerful Raptor ever for high-performance off-roading.

Hoonigan pitted the two machines in a best-of-three drag race, which you can watch in the video above. So, the question is, can the Ford F-150 Raptor R beat or keep up with the C6 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport? Well, no spoilers here - go watch the video.
