Can Honda's New Civic Type R Take Down The Focus RS?

Hot Hatch

It looks like it has what it takes.

While we’re extremely excited about the new Ford Focus RS, the new Honda Civic Type R promises to be just as insane, if not a little crazier. The hot hatchback has circled the Nurburgring in an incredible 7 minutes and 50 seconds. Best MOTORing managed to get their hands on a Type R to see what the hatchback is capable of on the difficult Gunsai Touge—the iconic proving ground located in Japan. With its turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder VTEC engine, the Type R produces 306 hp and can rev all the way out to 7,000 rpm.

Watching Gunsai ace Manabu “Max” Orido pilot the Type R around the technical course is both nerve racking and amazing.
