Because there's more money to be made.
Think back, all you movie buffs, and you more than likely already know that the plot of the original "The Fast and the Furious" had a striking resemblance to that of the 1991 flick, "Point Break," starring Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves. Instead of being street racers and jacking electronics, the characters were extreme surfers who also robbed banks. Reeves played an undercover cop while Swayze was the gang’s ringleader. Sound familiar? Unlike Fast and Furious, Point Blank didn’t spawn any sequels.
But Hollywood continues to make tons of bank with the Furious franchise, and it wants to earn even more. A Point Break sequel? No, a remake, and this time surfing has become extreme sports. The first trailer of the movie has just been released. Essentially, this is a remake of a movie that was already remade, only with cars.
