Comparisons are mostly done with cars in the same segment and similar specs - This one isn't.
Shootout videos are always fun to watch, especially because most of them are made with the best of the best cars from a manufacturer's range. The cars are usually quite similar too. It's videos like this one from RoadShow that upset the fan boys out there though. The cars are sports cars, but are very different, so when a winner is declared then forums and pages get spammed with tech specs and data to show why it was wrong.
These guys pitted the Alfa Romeo 4C up against BMW's M2, something no one else has done. One is a street car that can play on the track, while the other is more track car that plays on the streets.
The BMW features a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six that makes a healthy 370 hp and 343 lb-ft of torque, and most importantly, am M badge. The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider is a four potter measuring in at 1.7-liters that makes 237 hp and 258 lb-ft thanks to a turbocharger creating the all-important boost. One is heavier and more luxurious, the other is quite the opposite, but oozes sex appeal (as much as is possible with a rolling lump of carbon fiber and metal). The heart would go Italian, the brain would go German for us. Which way would you swing?
