Aside from the fact that Citroen as a whole hasn't been sold in the US for decades, few may be fully aware as to what the French automaker has been up to since. Like any brand, Citroen has had plenty of ups and downs throughout its existence, but it's been experiencing some newfound popularity thanks to its DS series. More specifically, the DS3 has become one of the most popular superminis in Europe. It's even offered as a cabrio that echoes the Fiat 500C.

Competing directly against the likes of the Alfa Romeo MiTo and Audi A1, the DS3 has the quirky styling only a French automaker could get away with. Along with a solid lineup of both gasoline and diesel engines, the enthusiast's choice is the 207 horsepower DS3 Racing, the road-going version of the DS3 R3 rally racer. Citroen also offers customers the option to personalize their DS3s with decals and body and roof color combos. Just a shame Citroen has no intention of trying the US market again.
