When it comes to hot hatches, the Megane Renault Sport (RS) is currently one of the best in the world. That is, in countries which actually sell the Renault brand. Since 2004, the Megane RS has developed a loyal following throughout Europe and other countries for many reasons. What started out as a simple family hatchback has become a darling in the hot hatch segment. Power has always come from a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four.

Although the original output was 222 horsepower, this number regularly increased as the car was updated. The Megane II was replaced by the Megane III in 2008, therefore a new RS also arrived. Special editions have also been released along the way, some of the latest examples including the Megane RS 250 (247 hp), the Megane RS Trophy (265 hp), and the Megane RS 265 (265 hp). And like a proper hot hatch, the sole transmission is a six-speed manual. At this point, a next-gen Megane hatchback should be arriving fairly soon, and with it will come a new RS. Too bad it'll have absolutely zero chance of coming to the US.
