With the wonderful news that Caterham will soon be sold in the US fresh in our minds, instead of masking our disappointment we can now muster genuine excitement whenever the British carmaker announces something new. The latest revelation is that an updated variant of the Superlight R300 race car is in the offing. The 2014 R300 comes with a revised suspension, new Avon ZZR and ZZS tires wrapped around new 13-inch wheels, while the 175-hp 2.0-liter four-pot is now mated to a new Sadev six-speed sequential transmission.

By replacing the manual unit, Caterham says the sequential box will result in faster lap times, while the new R300 will offer "improved reliability and reduced costs." Speaking of which, the 2014 Caterham Superlight R300 is available to order now, with prices starting from £32,495.
