The car chases in the new Fast & Furious spinoff movie are going to be epic.
With only two weeks until the release of Hobbs & Shaw starring Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson, the promotional campaign for the first Fast & Furious spinoff movie is shifting into high gear. While the action-packed trailers have given us a good idea what to expect from the latest installment in the Fast & Furious franchise, these new clips give us an extended look at some of the film's crazy car chase sequences previewed in the trailers.
The first clip shows the McLaren 720S getting a good workout, as it weaves through traffic in narrow London streets, pushing its agility to the limit. Somehow, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, and Vanessa Kirby all managed to squeeze inside the two-seat supercar. In pursuit is the film's "genetically-enhanced" villain Brixton Lore played by Idris Elba, who rides on a futuristic motorcycle that looks like something out of Transformers.
The action is intense, but there's still plenty of comic relief as Hobbs and Shaw argue with each other. During one standout stunt, Shaw drives the 720S under two semi-trucks driving through an intersection in a homage to a similar stunt in the first film. Brixton follows and climbs off the moving motorcycle, which flattens itself and pulls him under the two trucks with inches to spare.
In the second clip, Hobbs and Shaw are once again chased by Brixton, but this time Shaw is driving a modified buggy while Hobbs is behind the wheel of a custom flatbed truck that's clearly designed to cause carnage.
A recent trailer also showed a scene featuring modified hot rods being chased by a rocket-firing helicopter. Judging from the clips and trailers released so far, we're going to be in for one hell of a ride as Dwayne Johnson recently claimed the film features over 30 gravity-defying stunts. Directed by David Leitch who helmed Deadpool 2, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw screeches into cinemas on August 2.
