This super SUV is going to need super stopping power.
After launching the F-Type-based Thunder earlier this year, Lister is now producing its own take on the Jaguar F-Pace SUV. Called the Lightning, Lister claims it will be the fastest SUV in the world. A reveal date hasn't been announced yet, but the teaser campaign is already underway. The latest image released by Lister confirms the potent SUV will have some serious stopping power. "When you are creating the world's fastest SUV, it needs to stop as fast as it accelerates," the company wrote on Facebook.
The accompanying photo shows off the Lightning's massive carbon ceramic brake discs housed in either 20 or 21-inch alloy wheels. Lister hasn't revealed specifications of the Lightning yet, but reports suggest it will utilize Jaguar's 5.0-liter supercharged V8 tuned to deliver around 670 hp, which would make it significantly more powerful than the 550-hp F-Pace SVR range topper. This power should enable the Lister Lighting to beat the Lamborghini Urus' 190-mph top speed and become the fastest SUV in the world. Lister claims the Thunder has a top speed of 208 mph, so we would expect the Lightning to be capable of at least 200 mph.
Production will be strictly limited to only 250 examples, but a starting price hasn't been announced yet. Once the Thunder and Lightning has been produced and sold, Lister will then focus on tuning most, if not all, models from Jaguar's current model range. As for a potential reveal date, Lister is remaining tight-lipped, but Lister boss Lawrence Whittaker has suggested it will go on sale around September, so a surprise debut at this month's Goodwood Festival of Speed seems plausible.
