Chevrolet is giving its off-road-ready Silverado HD Z71 an image boost as it enters the 2021 model year, with the introduction of the new Silverado 2500HD Z71 Carhartt Special Edition, which has now officially been added to GM's online fleet order guide. Previewed by a custom-built show truck displayed at last year's SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the Carhartt Special Edition takes its name from a Dearborn, Michigan-based apparel company specializing in work and outdoor wear.

The Carhartt Special Edition doesn't offer anything new over the Z71 in terms of performance equipment, but it does pack plenty of style, with a black skid plate, Mosaic Black Metallic "CHEVROLET" grille bar, black Z71 badges, and slick-looking Carhartt Gold exterior pinstriping.

The Z71 Carhartt Special Edition also boasts roof marker lamps, body-color bumpers, a black hood vent surround, a Carhartt logo roll-up tonneau cover, 4" black assist steps, and 20" machined aluminum wheels with Grazen metallic painted accents, wearing LT275/65R20 all-terrain tires. Inside, the truck gets special Carhartt stitching and seat panels, Carhartt embroidered headrests, and Carhartt logo all-weather floor mats.

Pricing isn't yet known for the 2021 Silverado HD with the Z71 Carhartt Special Edition, but that info should become available soon, as GM tries to clear the last of its 2020 stock. If it isn't quite your cup of tea, GM has another three other special-edition Silverado HD Z71 packages also on the way for 2021, each with its own distinctive look.

Those packages are the Sport Edition, Chrome Sport Edition, and Midnight Edition, and they'll be available for Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD models with the Z71 Off-Road and Protection Package. The Sport Edition and Midnight Edition are closest in terms of what they share, with the same black grille inserts, black skid plate, black exterior badging, black hood vent surround, and four-inch black assist steps. They also have in common 18" gloss black alloy wheels, although only the 2500HD version of the Midnight Edition gets mud-terrain tires. The Z71 Chrome Sport Edition misses out on the assist steps and black-out badging, but it gets chrome grille accents, a chrome skid plate, and 20" machined or polished alloy wheels, depending on trim level.
