Chevrolet dominated the 2020 IMSA sportscar championship series, driving into the sunset with the Manufacturer, Driver, and Team titles. An impressive victory, considering it was the mid-engine Corvette C8.R's inaugural season. To celebrate, Chevy will build 1,000 examples of the 2022 Corvette Stingray IMSA GTLM Championship Edition. These models will be available to left-hand drive markets only.

The limited IMSA GTLM Championship Edition will resemble the No.3 and No. 4 race cars. Chevrolet chose the No. 3 for a good reason. Jordan Taylor, Antonio Garcia, and the No. 3 car's crew won the GTLM Drivers and Team Championships. Car No. 4 racked up enough points to take the Manufacturer's victory. This is Chevy's 13th Manufacturer title since 2001.

"Racing has been part of the Corvette's DNA from nearly the beginning," said Laura Klauser, General Motors Sports Car Program manager. "Both the Corvette Stingray and C8.R have seen tremendous success capitalizing on the benefits of a mid-engine platform - and we're just getting started."

As a basis, Chevrolet uses the 3LT trim with the Z51 Performance Package. Both cars come as standard with Corvette Racing-themed graphics. The No. 3 car is finished in Accelerate Yellow with gray graphics, while No. 4 is finished in Hypersonic Gray with yellow accents.

Additional exterior features include a high-wing spoiler in Carbon Flash, yellow brake calipers, Carbon Flash side mirrors, black side rockers, and splash guards. The most aggressive of the exterior enhancements are the Black Trident design wheels with a "Jake" logo on the center cap. In keeping with the black theme, Chevrolet also uses black lug nuts.

Interior-wise, this special edition boasts a Strike Yellow and Sky Cool Gray cabin, in keeping with the race car's livery. GT2 seats are standard, but Competition Sport seats are available. Again, in keeping with the theme, Chevrolet swaps the standard seat belts for yellow units. And since no Limited Edition car would be complete without a commemorative plaque, each car gets one of those as well.

For the ultimate pit-lane effect, each car also comes with a custom-fitted indoor car cover. The appearance of this cover depends on whether the customers opt for the No. 3 or No. 4 car.

The IMSA GTLM Championship Edition Package adds $6,595 to the price of the car. Using the 2021 MY pricing, the Coupe should cost somewhere in the region of $84,440, while the Convertible will be around $91,440.
