Chevrolet's New Silverado Offer Should Worry Ram

Truck / Comments

Even GMC is jumping into the fight.

A brand new full-size pickup truck isn't exactly a cheap purchase these days. Hasn't been for quite some time and the prices will likely only go higher, based on a number of factors. But at the same time, competition has never been fiercer, especially between Ford, GM, and Ram. The latter two Detroit automakers continue to fight for the number two sales spot behind the long-time best-selling F-Series. Cars Direct has learned GM's new offer for the Chevrolet Silverado LD and GMC Sierra Limited is designed specifically to lure away potential Ram buyers.

If you recall, Ram recently took the number two sales spot away from GM and, not surprisingly, GM is not happy. Here's one way it's fighting back: The 2019 Silverado 1500 LD and GMC Sierra 1500 Limited are now being offered with an incredible 0% APR financing for 84 months as part of a new nationwide promotion.

Launched this past Saturday, it's set to run through July 1. This is one of the best deals on the latest generation Silverado/Sierra to date. According to Chevy's official website, there's also a $3,500 cash allowance on a Silverado LD but the former offer is the better deal. Here's the breakdown: with a $45,000 price tag and $0 down, financing at 0% comes to a 536 monthly payment prior to taxes and fees. However, going with the $3,500 discount and an interest rate of 6% increases that cost $50,925, or $606 per month.

Do the math and that's almost $6k in savings if one were to go with the 0% financing. However, it's also important to point out both the Silverado LD and Sierra Limited are both the previous generation trucks that are sold alongside the redesigned variants. The goal, like the Ram 1500 Classic, is to offer customers a perfectly capable pickup truck with lots of features at a reduced price.

It's been working brilliantly for Ram. The downside, at least in the case of these GM trucks, is that neither are offered in as many configurations as the current generation. Both are Double Cabs only. GM is also offering some pretty good deals on the redesigned trucks right now, too. For example, there's now Supplier Pricing and 0% financing for 72 months.

It really boils down to one's budget and whether owning the latest generation truck is the number one priority. But in any case, this deal on the 2019 Silverado 1500 LD and Sierra 1500 Limited is hard to beat.
