Could you blame Volkswagen for saying it was hesitant to compete in the "patriotic" US truck segment? Breaking into the pickup truck market has been a difficult, yet not impossible task for foreign automakers. Nissan and Toyota have figured it out, but VW does have a point about how patriotic the segment is.

General Motors even trademarked the name "Tribute," although we didn't know initially where it would appear. Now, Chevy's online configurator includes a Tribute Edition for the 2019 Silverado 2500HD and it may possibly be the most patriotic truck on the market.

The Tribute Edition is a $1,630 option package on top of a 2019 Silverado 2500HD with a standard box. In order to select this package, you also need to opt for the standard bed on the LTZ trim with the optional Z71 off-road package. For just $500, the Z71 package adds badges, skid plates, 18-inch all-terrain tires, hill descent control, door sill plates, and a trailering package.

As you can tell from the pictures, the biggest addition in the Tribute Edition is a massive American flag on the side of the truck, showing other road goers how much you love America. This special edition also rolls in black bowtie emblems, a spray-on bed liner, and front and rear parking sensors.

Even though the Tribute Edition is locked to the LTZ trim with the Z71 package, Chevy has given customers plenty of color and engine options. The Tribute Edition can seemingly be paired with nearly any color, some of which are pictured here. Buyers can also freely choose between the 6.0-liter Vortec V8 and the 6.6-liter Duramax turbo-diesel V8. Pricing for a 2019 Silverado 2500HD with the Tribute Editon starts at $56,720 but will be more expensive with the optional diesel engine.
