Though owning an electric vehicle can be a hassle if you need to rely on the public charging infrastructure, it's much easier if you can plug in at home. In fact, not having to visit gas stations and waking up with a full charge every day is among the best attributes of EV ownership. But believe it or not, there are some EV owners who miss their weekly trip to the gas station, where they can make impulse purchases like a candy bar or a lottery ticket.

After hearing stories like this, Chevrolet decided to give one lucky Bolt EV owner an "ultimate EV garage," filled with guilty pleasure snacks that would typically be found at a gas station mini mart. The automaker teamed up with celebrity designer/building Wendell Holland to renovate Denver-based Bolt owner Pamela Talley's garage into "Bolt Mart."

"I've seen firsthand how homeowners are evolving their space to fit the EV lifestyle, so collaborating with Chevy on this garage transformation was a seamless fit," said Holland. "To create the ultimate garage space for Pamela, we incorporated inspiration from beloved gas station snacks and transformed the space into a modern oasis for EV living."

To make her home charging center feel more like a traditional refueling station, Holland added a frozen drink machine, hot dog warmer, beef jerky buffet, chip and candy shelves, a drink fridge, and more. The snacks were chosen based on a social media poll, asking Chevy fans for their favorite gas station treats.

"One of the best features of living with an EV is charging, or 'refueling' at home," said Steve Majoros, vice president of Chevrolet Marketing. "We want to provide Chevy customers the seamless ability to enjoy charging at home as we bring more electric vehicles to market. This garage makeover is one example of the creative ways EV drivers can enjoy what they miss by skipping the gas station."

The Chevy Bolt is now the most affordable EV on sale in the United States, starting at just $26,595, and it offers a competitive 259-mile range (247 miles in the EUV). Chevy even includes standard installation of a Qmerit Level 2 charging outlet for eligible customers who purchase or lease a 2022 or 2023 model.
