Despite just having had its official debut last weekend at Daytona, there are already two countries where the new 2014 Chevrolet SS definitely won't be sold. GM Canada has just confirmed that it currently has "no plans" to sell the car in that country, a somewhat surprising decision considering that country has always had its share of devoted gearheads. Apparently when GM ran the numbers, there simply wouldn't be enough interested buyers.

But that's not the case when it comes to Israel. Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth has confirmed that the car won't be imported to the Middle East nation due to its name, as "SS" was short for the Schutzstaffel, also known as the SS, the powerful and deadly paramilitary unit commanded by Heinrich Himmler that was responsible for multiple crimes against humanity during World War II. Although the SS in this case stands for "Super Sport" and has no relation to the old Nazi regime, Chevrolet has confirmed it has no plans to export the SS to Israel. US buyers, on the other hand, can expect the V8-powered, rear-wheel-drive sedan in showrooms later this year.
