The Woodward Dream Cruise has come from humble beginnings, but in the short time since the cruise started as a fund raiser for a soccer field in 1995 it has gone on to become the biggest one-day automotive event in the world. With 1.5 million fans and 50,000 cars attending the event in Detroit, Chevrolet recognized that quite a lot of those fans will be there to see the thousands of bowtie-sporting classics which will be hitting Woodward.
Chevy will be pitching in $1 million to help with things such as police and cleanup. Of course, the event will hardly be just Chevys, there will be no shortage of Mopar and Ford, and even though this is Detroit, you can count on some imports making it to the cruise. Enthusiasts are hoping there won't be a repeat of last year's rain, but last year is evidence that even if the weather is less than perfect, August 20th will still be a great day.
