As the mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette C8 enters its second model year, it's picking up a surprising number of tweaks along the way, all aimed at making it an even more compelling package than the 2020 model. There are new exterior paint hues, along with a host of new racing stripe color options; standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; and for the first time, magneto dampers will be available as a standalone option, without requiring buyers to spring for the full Z51 Performance Package.

There's been plenty of news about the availability of accessories, too, as Corvette Product Manager Harlan Charles confirmed in September that the popular High Wing Spoiler and Carbon Fiber Ground Effects are making a return. And here's something else: we've just learned that a Corvette Racing "Jake" hood decal is now available a la carte.

Since the genesis of Corvette Racing's "Jake" logo in 2004, it's grown into something of an icon in the motorsports world, the trademark skull racing helmet with crossed flags for eyes adorning some of the most competitive cars in sports car racing today. You can wear the same singularly unique logo on your C8 Corvette by purchasing the Center Hood Jake Graphics Package, available through the Chevrolet Accessories store with optional dealer installation.

The package includes a satin black stinger stripe for the hood with a subtle, barely-visible Jake logo and faint red Corvette Racing text, plus a pair of bodyside "Stingray R" graphics to complete the look.

It's not the biggest, most comprehensive Corvette accessory, but it is relatively unique in the sports car world; we can't think of too many other automakers that offer a graphics package with the official logo of their racing team, much less as a standalone option.

Production of the 2021 Chevrolet Corvette C8 is now underway at GM's Bowling Green Assembly Plant, this year's starting MSRP remaining unchanged from last year's $59,995. The Center Hood Jake Graphics Package is available now, with an MSRP of $495.
