Automakers go to great lengths to promote their latest cars and trucks. Sometimes the promotion is really cool and unique. Other times it comes across as totally cheesy. We'll let you be the judge for this one. Chevrolet recently went to the beach in San Diego, California, during the US Sand Sculpting Championships. This life-size Colorado pickup truck sculpture required five days to build and some 75,000 lbs. of sand. The completed sculpture is currently on display.

Why did Chevy choose this venue? According to Colorado marketing manager: "It's a great fit for the Colorado to be partnered with the US Sand Sculpting Championships. With Southern California being the largest mid-size truck market in the country, the Colorado is right at home here in San Diego."
