You won't find this easter egg in earlier-model C8 Corvettes.
From production cutbacks to safety hazards, the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has had a troubled launch. Factory closures caused by the pandemic meant that many customers who ordered a 2020 Corvette will now be offered a 2021 model instead.
Consequently, only a few thousand examples of the 2020 Corvette have rolled off the production line, but Chevrolet is still adding new design details to the mid-engine sports car. New Jersey-based dealer Kerbeck Chevrolet has discovered a cool new easter egg added to later model 2020 Corvettes that were recently delivered that will make early adopters jealous. Photos sent to Corvette Blogger show that two new graphics have been added to the windshield on later-model 2020 Corvettes.
Located on the lower corner of the passenger side is a silhouette of Zora Duntov. A set of crossed flags and the words "Team Corvette!" are also etched onto the driver's side. If the Zora graphic looks familiar, that's because it was incorporated into the camouflage of C8 Corvette prototypes. Often regarded as the father of the Corvette, Zora Duntov was the Corvette's first chief engineer who saw potential in the C1 Corvette and boosted its power with a small-block V8 engine.
He also dreamed of developing a mid-engine Corvette; a dream that was finally realized with the new eighth-generation model over 60 years after the original Corvette launched.
According to the dealer, the two Corvettes with the new windshield graphics have the highest VINs yet. "Now, some Corvette owners will get to have Zora go along for a ride with you every time you take out your C8," said Kerbeck Corvette's Dave Salvatore.
It's a perfect way to honor the man who originally envisioned the mid-engine Corvette. No doubt he would be proud of Chevrolet's work if he could drive the C8 Corvette today. This isn't the only Zora tribute Chevrolet is planning either, as the new 1,000-hp hybrid C8 Corvette will reportedly be called the Zora.
