GM’s great global hope will arrive in the US last.
In an effort to finally make a compact entry capable offighting foreign sedans like the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla and Mazda3,Chevrolet has been hard at work designing the 2015 Cruze, spied up close and personalin these pics from Germany. But with the weight of the GM’s global network on its shoulders,the Cruze is also expected to be laden with endless names, sold as everythingfrom Holden to Daewoo in various markets and sharing its platform with the nextVolt, Equinox and Opel Astra.
The spied Cruze features a sweeping windshield andcoupe-like roofline, larger grille-openings and narrow, streamlined headlights.Inside, there is a large touchscreen, park assist sensors, voice-recognition systemand an ‘Eco’ mode button. Production for the US model- which will be built in the company's Lordstown plant in Ohio- will likely be held offtill late 2014, with other markets getting their versions earlier in the year.With strong competing entries already well-established in the local and global markets,will the 2015 Chevy Cruze have what it takes to take on the Civic and others?
