GM’s great global hope will arrive in the US last.
In an effort to finally make a compact entry capable of fighting foreign sedans like the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla and Mazda3, Chevrolet has been hard at work designing the 2015 Cruze, spied up close and personal in these pics from Germany. But with the weight of the GM’s global network on its shoulders, the Cruze is also expected to be laden with endless names, sold as everything from Holden to Daewoo in various markets and sharing its platform with the next Volt, Equinox and Opel Astra.
The spied Cruze features a sweeping windshield and coupe-like roofline, larger grille-openings and narrow, streamlined headlights. Inside, there is a large touchscreen, park assist sensors, voice-recognition system and an ‘Eco’ mode button. Production for the US model- which will be built in the company's Lordstown plant in Ohio- will likely be held off till late 2014, with other markets getting their versions earlier in the year. With strong competing entries already well-established in the local and global markets, will the 2015 Chevy Cruze have what it takes to take on the Civic and others?
