Toyota isn't one for demure debuts and unveilings, so it was interesting to see that it didn't conduct a formal press conference at this week's Chicago show even though it has something fresh to offer. We're talking about the 2011 Matrix hatchback that was officially debuted at the show's opening. The hatch came with a slight retouched exterior, an upgraded interior, and a new standard brake-override system.

The Matrix is only available in two trim levels - base and S - and draws its power from either a 132-horsepower 1.8-liter, or a stronger 158-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder. The Matrix will also feature some new sport packages that incorporate 17-inch alloy wheels, front and rear underbody spoilers, a roof-mounted rear spoiler, and 'S' badging. There's no official word on what to expect for the price, but it's safe to assume that the MSRP will be just under $17,000.
