Volkswagen had promised us four different engine options for the new Jetta, but so far we've only heard about two naturally-aspirated gasoline options and one TDI. None of these are bad engines, but the one we've been waiting for is the one that's actually exciting, something in the spirit of the Wolfsburg Jettas. VW will be bringing a Jetta with just such an engine to the Chicago Auto Show, and the engine they've chosen is the 2.0 turbo from the GTI.

The engine produces 200 horsepower and 207lb-ft of torque, the same as the GTI. You will have a choice of six-speed manual transmission VW's DSG, and the GLI will get the same XDS cross differential system as the GTI. Those of you who were hoping for Audi's 2.5-liter turbocharged masterpiece, and I know there were some of you, will have to wait for the new Quattro. Save your money.
