We already know what the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata looks like. In fact, we've known for a while now. We've even known that the little roadster will be powered by a 2.0-liter Skyactiv four-cylinder engine. But what we haven't known, and still don't officially know, is what the horsepower figure from that engine will be. We have had some hints, it has been suggested that this will be the same 2.0-liter Skyactive from the Mazda3, and we have a horsepower figure for that.

With the Mazda3 putting out 155 horsepower, we've been guessing that the Miata would be producing the same amount. But that is 12 less than the outgoing version, and although weight saving should more than make up for this, it's not often you see a step down in horsepower with a sports car. It's not unheard of, but it's also not common. However, our suspicions seem to have been confirmed, as the website for the Chicago Auto Show lists the car as having 155 horsepower. It's possible that this isn't actually official, and that the site was posting the speculative figure, but it seems safe to assume 155 is accurate.
