Fake police cars are pretty common in China, driven by the criminally-minded who want to fool genuine heat and run traffic lights at will. With the word 'police' written in English instead of Chinese and with civilian plates instead of police plates the car seems suspiciously like another fake. According to Car News China, however the police Smart car spied in the city of Jinan in Shandong Province is the real deal.

Even though the silly little car is incredibly expensive over in China, with base models priced at almost $20,000 or almost double the price of a locally-made SUV that would comfortably seat five police officers, it is being seriously considered. Local gangsters and felons must be quaking in their boots.
