"CHiPS" is Coming to the Big Screen Starring Dax Shepard

Hit show from the seventies coming to the big screen.

Many readers probably weren’t alive when “CHiPS” was on the air, but it’s still managed to become a part of pop culture, and remains fairly popular to this day. Don’t know what it’s about? No, it’s not a bag of potato chips, smart ass. It was a TV show that ran in the US from 1977-1983 starring Erik Estrada and Larry Wilcox as a pair of motorcycle cops named Ponch and Baker. They patrolled the highways of Southern California, hence CHiPS – California Highway Patrol.

Glad everyone is on the same page now. Hollywood has been trying for years to get a big screen adaption off the ground. It’s now seemingly coming together thanks mainly to actor Dax Shepard.

Not only is he set to play Baker, he’ll also serve as the film’s writer and director. Michael Pena is attached to play Ponch. Shepard will also perform his own motorbike stunts because he just so happens to be a professional race car and motorcycle driver. The tone of the film is apparently more serious than the TV show, with a "Bad Boys" and "Lethal Weapon" feel. Get ready for the return of tight khakis uniforms and funky music.
