Like what you see here? Too bad it's not available Stateside. French automaker Citroen hasn't been sold in North America in recent history and while the chances of that changing anytime soon isn't likely, there's some part of us that really digs the DS3, taking on the Fiat 500 and Mini as it does with a decidedly anti-retro approach. Now Citroen has given the DS3 a folding fabric roof, of sorts. The mechanism is similar to the one found in the Fiat 500C it aims to rival, keeping its roof rails in place while opening up the top and back.

Citroen opted to debut the roofless DS3 on its home turf at this year's Paris Motor Show. Adding to the extensive personalization options available on the DS3 hatchback, the Cabrio offers buyers the choice of three unique soft-top colors. According to Citroen, the DS3 Cabrio is the only 5-seat convertible in its class (although we wouldn't want to be one of the three squeezed into the back seat) and it's expected to arrive in European showrooms in the beginning of 2013.
