Citroen Reveals New C-Elysee and C4 L Compact Sedans

/ Comments

Two more compact sedan models are entering a segment that makes up a third of all worldwide passenger car sales.

The French automaker will attempt to gatecrash the compact saloon market with two new models, namely the C-Elysee and C4 L, to tap into the most populous automotive segment in the world. The C-Elysee is Citroen's version of the Peugeot 301 budget compact sedan, with the cars sharing the same body, but with bespoke fascia, tail lamps and wheels. Citroen says the car will be manufactured in Spain and sold in Turkey, Spain, Central Europe and Algeria before year end.

The sedan has a 2.65m-long wheelbase, a 506-liter boot, and will be available with the latest-gen VTi 97hp gasoline engine in certain markets. Citroen's second compact sedan is the slightly more upscale C4 L, which will offer a "lounge-like rear compartment" with "wraparound seats, backrests inclined to 29 degrees and headrests designed for added comfort." The car is set to be built in the areas where it will be sold including Wuhan, China by the end of the year, and Kaluga, Russia, in the first half of 2013.
