Following a lone teaser shot, Citroen has revealed pictures and details of the latest model to join the DS club ahead if its full reveal at the Shanghai Auto Show. The concept, dubbed the DS Wild Rubis, previews a BMW X3 and Audi Q5 rival aimed at the Chinese market, but that could also make its way to select European markets. As the forerunner of a future DS sport-ute, the DS Wild Rubis concept measures in at 4.7 m long, 1.95 m wide, and 1.59 m in height, making it longer, wider and lower than the Q5.

Its front fascia mimics that of the stunning Numero 9 concept, characterized by a three-dimensional grille centered with a large DS badge, flowing into unique full-LED headlights. A similar effect features at the rear, where chrome envelopes the slim taillights as well as the twin exhaust pipes. Other striking design cues include a chrome insert in the side sill, roof rails that blend into the C-Pillars, a bold crease along the shoulder line, ruby-red paint that changes with the intensity of the light, and a set of 21-inch alloys boasting a guilloche pattern on the wheels.

There's no specific details on the SUV concept's powertrain, save for Citroen claiming it has been designed to be driven by plug-in hybrid technology. Interior details have also been omitted, but given its 2.9-meter wheelbase there should be plenty of room for rear passengers and a large boot.
