It would be hard to say that a car which shoots flames could ever become uncool.
There's not much in the world like a top fuel dragster engine. Without very far to go in between rebuilds, the sheer size and savagery of these power plants just wouldn't at all be practical for any other kind of racing, even if they were allowed. And the following video, of a dragster from 1969, shows that even 45 years ago, top fuel was already completely unlike anything else. The car is complete with flames shooting out of the headers and everything.
Although the video is seriously loud, it's no substitute for the feeling it gives you in the pit of your stomach when standing close to such a machine in person. Oh well, enjoy anyway.
