There's currently a whole lot of talk going on about the new 2015 Ford Mustang. Whether its about the engine lineup, exterior and interior designs, or performance specs, everything we've learned so far indicates Ford won't let anyone down on this one. The car and the Mustang brand is just far too important to make any mistakes. Now that it's clear Ford will offer an EcoBoost turbo four, many have been wondering whether the carmaker may drop high-performance variants such as the drag race ready Mustang Cobra Jet.

Hogwash, according to a new report coming from Hot Rod magazine. Ford's next Cobra Jet program is already underway, but the Ford development team hasn't confirmed whether the new car will be based on the same platform as the next Mustang. Point being, will the next Cobra Jet retain the current Mustang's platform, switch to the Taurus's, or even the Fusion's? Nothing has been confirmed for now, but a Ford official stated that "Our goals remain the same for next year as they are every year, produce a competitive product at a price that is a value for the racer."
