Taking the performance off-road truck down to a more manageable size.
Ford's F-150 SVT Raptor, based on the outgoing generation of Ford's successful truck, has proven to be a success story all of its own, creating a fierce category of go-anywhere, almighty trucks. Now, according to a report on GM Authority, General Motors is planning on infiltrating this battle from a lower category, creating a go-anywhere truck based on the smaller 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon. Lighter and more agile than the F-150, they may prove to be more capable than the competition.
As these trucks will be based on the upcoming 2015 models of GM's smaller trucks, the performance offshoots should not be expected before 2016 or 2017. However, this could mean that the Canyon and Colorado's upgrade diesel engine could be ready for use by this time. With details still vague, stay tuned for more updates as they come in.
