Will arrive as a 2016 model, priced in the region of $250k.
The US isn’t short of hi-po SUVs, with Mercedes providing the lion share. But soon buyers on this side of the Atlantic will have even more choice, with Automotive News reporting the flagship G65 AMG will join its stablemates the ML63 AMG, GL63 AMG, G63 AMG and the soon-to-be-added GLA45 AMG. We recently suggested this is a car we deserve, so maybe Stuttgart was listening. The G65 is similar to the G63 but where that comes with a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8, the range-topping Gelandewagen boasts a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12.
Output is rated at 604 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed auto. Sold overseas since 2012, Mercedes has now decided to bring its most potent sport-ute to the US as a 2016 model, carrying a price tag expected to be in the region of $250,000.
