Independent testing reveals a different story.
There’s no debating the Tesla P85D’s incredible ability to demolish supercars that are twice as expensive in a 0 to 60 mph sprint. But can the 4,900-pound beast really get to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds? We’ve seen videos and seen reviews, but we now have an excellent look from Consumer Reports, as in the company that buys its own vehicles to conduct independent tests. In the video, Consumer Reports tests the P85D's 0 to 60 mph time, braking ability and handling capability. What it found was extremely interesting.
The P85D is capable of braking and handling like a sports car and accelerates as fast as a supercar. Tesla says 0 to 60 mph comes in 3.17 seconds, but Consumer Reports got a slightly higher time of 3.5 seconds.
