There's no doubt the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is an incredible high-performance sports car. With a base price that puts it well below that of one of its biggest rivals, the Porsche 911, and a seemingly never ending amount of positive publicity and rave test drive reviews, demand is understandably high. So high in fact that General Motors is now warning customers that they could soon be facing a six-month long waiting list.

Deliveries of the new Vette have already begun to select Chevy dealerships, and even here there are customers reportedly willing to pay $5,000 to $20,000 to get the top spot of the list. Production is currently taking place at the famous Corvette plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky, which GM invested some $131 million to upgrade for the C7. Chevrolet's General Marketing Manager has acknowledged that such a wait list exists, but it may increase further due to overseas demand. Asia, Europe and the Middle East all have eager buyers just waiting to open their wallets for the C7.
