As we bid au revoir to the Paris Motor Show, it's time to look forward to the 2012 SEMA show. That's where concepts such as a Cosworth-tuned Hyundai Genesis Coupe will join other quick and quixotic mod-jobs in Las Vegas later this month. Hyundai's "ultimate" Genesis Coupe was built in collaboration with engineering consultancy Cosworth, a company known for its Formula One racing engines, for designing Aston Martin's 6.0-liter V12 and for its collaboration with Kahn in modifying Range Rovers, among other areas of competence.
Cosworth tuned the 3.8-liter direct-injection V6 up to 389 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque, complemented by upgraded brakes, suspension, intake and exhaust. Satin-gloss blue has been used to coat the concept, which also boasts Cosworth design touches such as a carbon-fiber front splitter, gunmetal racing wheels, integrated rear spoiler and carbon-fiber rear diffuser. A race-derived two-tone interior sports CGRS steering wheel, shift knob, pedals and sports seats. "The rear-drive Genesis Coupe is simply a great platform," says Cosworth. "We're proud to partner with Hyundai for this ultimate racing series model."
