British engine tuning legend Cosworth has revealed its intent to boost output of the Toyota GT86/Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ, from a modest 200 to an outrageous 380 horsepower. Instead of focusing on individual components, the tuner has built upgrade packages. The first of these takes the naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter boxer-four to 230 hp thanks to a free-flow exhaust system with a thermal-coated 4-2-1 exhaust manifold and 'overpipe' front pipe, remapped ECU, a Cosworth performance filtration system and low temperature thermostat.

Cosworth will later roll out upgrades that boost power to first 325 hp and then 380 hp in 'race-track configuration.' Cosworth chief executive, Hal Reisiger, said: "We are delivering a series of power upgrade solutions that will allow drivers to unlock the real performance potential of their vehicles." It's about time someone did.
