A redesign is coming and some dealers may be anxious to clear out their R8 stock.
Say you’re in the market for a supercar, but you still need to watch your budget. Basically, you want the most horsepower your money can buy. Up until now you’ve been mainly focusing on used Lamborghini Gallardos, the McLaren 12C, as well as the Audi R8. All solid choices, but consider this: an all-new Audi R8 is just around the corner, and despite the current model’s recent refresh, it’s entirely possible Audi dealers will soon be anxious to sell them fast.
A base 2014 Audi R8 with the 4.2-liter V8 is priced at about $115k. Figure the new model won’t cost any less. A used Gallardo in excellent condition with low miles, for example, will likely cost you around that figure, give or take. Unless you just have to have a Lamborghini, perhaps going with a new R8 is the better choice. Granted, any new V10 R8 will cost you more, but the very thought of owning a brand new R8, even if it "only" has a V8, is extremely appealing. Just something to consider.
