Could Coronavirus Delay Ford Bronco Reveal?

Industry News / 17 Comments

An iconic reveal may have to be pushed back.

The 2020 New York Auto Show was postponed until August due to the recent outbreak of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Among the reveals set to take place in the big apple, the 2021 Ford Bronco was arguably the most hotly anticipated. The Bronco was leaked in full prior to the show, giving fans a great look at the rugged SUV before its official debut. But those leaked photos will have to satisfy people because it may be some time before the Bronco is revealed properly.

CarBuzz was set to attend a tech briefing next week, centered around the Bronco. This would have been the first opportunity for media to see the car in person and gather some early impressions of it. Sadly, the event has been postponed because of the coronavirus.

"While we looked forward to hosting you for our Bronco Brand Immersion and all-new Bronco embargoed technical briefing next week, the safety of our employees, partners, and media friends remains paramount. With that in mind, we've made the decision to cancel our event due to ongoing coronavirus concerns. We apologize for the inconvenience," said Mark Truby, Chief Communications Officer, Ford Motor Company. "We appreciate your understanding. In the meantime, stay tuned for updates regarding the return of Bronco."

Ford did not give an alternative date for the event, likely because it is too difficult to put another event on the books in this current climate. Sadly, this means the Bronco's reveal date is likely in a state of flux as Ford (and other manufacturers) struggle with the disastrous impact of the coronavirus outbreak. The 2020 New York Auto Show has been delayed until the end of August, which may be when the Bronco will make its official debut unless Ford decides to surprise us with an online reveal beforehand.
