Yup, that Craigslist.
Just about a year after it officially debuted in Monterey a Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster has come up for sale on Craigslist. Now I know what you’re thinking: This must be some sort of a scam, right? After all, it was only a few weeks ago that we found an ad for a Koenigsegg Regera that was so bad it was almost offensive. But this ad appears to be legit. A bit of research confirms that this Aventador SV Roadster is indeed in the inventory of Long Island, New York’s, Deluxe Car Storage & Sales.
How do we know that dealership is the one that posted this ad? Simple: The address on the ad is the same one as the dealership’s. Still don’t believe it’s real? The seller has included a photo of the fuel economy sticker, the pricing invoice and the owner’s guides and maintenance equipment. A search of the VIN spits out a 2016 Lamborghini as the match. In fact, the only thing funky about this listing is that the dealership wasn’t named in it, and that it seems to have been posted by someone who speaks French. Once you get past those small quirks you can appreciate the awesomeness that is an Aventador SV Roadster with only 76 miles on the clock.
The price for this SV is $679,000, which according to the invoice posted in the Craigslist ad is $106,000 over MSRP. We found a few Aventador SV Roadsters for sale online and this price looks to be fair, if maybe a bit low. Now $679,000 for a car isn’t cheap, but keep in mind that only 500 of these were built. This one is practically in mint condition, and if the online listing (the dealership's) for it is to be believed than the Le Mans Blu and Nero Cosmus interior combo is a one-off. Even if it isn’t this still seems like a good deal (check out those sweet yellow brake calipers), especially given that an Aventador SV Roadster with 800 miles on it is being sold in Chicago for over $45,000 more.
Regardless of how “good” a deal this is, $679,000 is still a lot to spend on a car, even if it is incredibly rare. So, just what do you get for all that cash? Here’s a quick refresher. The 6.5-liter V12 has been given a significant power boost, making 740 hp and 509 lb-ft of torque in the SV Roadster. Its top speed is 217 mph and a run from 0-60 mph takes only 2.9 seconds. Power is sent to all four wheels and routed through a seven-speed automated manual transmission. This is truly a special car and it’s a bit surprising to see one for sale on Craigslist less than a year after it was revealed to the world. Maybe people are starting to listen to what we’ve been saying: Craigslist is the next great supercar shopping destination.
