It's art on wheels.
Ringbrothers recently unleashed a Hellcat-powered 1969 Dodge Charger known as "CAPTIV" that looks something straight out of a muscle car lover's dream. With 707 horsepower on tap, the bright yellow beauty is one powerful piece of art. But the Wisconsin-based shop doesn't just cater to the muscle car crowd.
Last year, Ringbrothers created a truly unique 1970 K5 Blazer 4x4 for a 2021 Omaze charity fundraising drive. Curiously, the winner decided to take the money instead of this awesome classic truck, meaning it's now up for sale in the Golden State of California, on Bring A Trailer. A quick glance at this stunning creation raises two questions. Firstly, who decided to choose money over this classic beauty, and, secondly, why isn't Chevrolet attempting something similar with its current-generation Blazer?
Known as the "Watchman", the stunning truck gains motivation from a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 mated to a Bowler Performance three-speed auto box. Finished in a gorgeous shade called Growler Green, this K5 Blazer is perfect for soaking up the sun on a coastal cruise. Contrasting rather nicely with the paintwork are the bronze-painted 18-inch wheels from HRE. Other neat styling touches include unique custom Ringbrothers badging, a bespoke roll bar, and a machine fuel filler cap, among other things.
The drop-top Chevy didn't always look this good, though. Prior to the respray, the body was reportedly removed from the frame to straighten out the side panels and increase the size of the wheel wells. The bumpers also received attention from experts, giving the chrome items a mirror-like finish. But this is no beauty queen - the K5 Blazer is ready to tackle the rough stuff at a moment's notice, with grippy General Grabber X3 tires and QA1 shocks and sway bars ready to swing into action when needed.
Inside, Ringbrothers have artfully merged the best of old and new. The simplistic K5 interior remains, but hides several appurtenances of modern-day motoring. A Kenwood touchscreen stereo sits in the center of the dashboard, replete with a Kicker subwoofer, speakers, and amplifier. The old-school dials have also made way for digital items, which include a 160 mph speedometer.
The Blazer boasts tan leather seats with green stitching to create a luxurious feel. The plush material has been generously used, covering the dashboard as well. The various interior components were machined by Ringbrothers. Lastly, Vintage Air climate control is also fitted to the retro cabin.
With just four days left, we won't be surprised if the current highest bid of $160,000 climbs astronomically over the coming days. Ringbrothers is renowned for their breathtaking creations so, when the opportunity to bag one of their custom jobs comes around, monied collectors will probably pay anything for the privilege. We're pretty sure the original prize-winner regrets opting for the cash price right about now.
