After the 2020 Corvette Stingray Coupe was unveiled back in July, the covers have now come off its new convertible sibling. Revealed at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida this week, the new 2020 Corvette Stingray Convertible features a folding hardtop roof that can deploy at speeds of up to 30 mph and retract in just 16 seconds. It arguably looks even better than the coupe from some angles.

If you can't afford the $67,495 price tag, you can still fantasize about building your dream Corvette Convertible thanks to Chevrolet's online visualizer.

Loading up the visualizer, you are given a choice of 12 exterior colors, while the folding hardtop roof can be finished in the body color or what Chevrolet calls "Carbon Flash - Full" or "Carbon Flash – Nacelles." We opted for a Torch Red exterior finish and the Carbon Flash - Full option. Like the coupe, the C8 Corvette Convertible is available with an optional Z51 Performance package, which adds performance tires and suspension, bigger brakes, and enhanced cooling systems.

In addition, there are six stylish wheel designs to choose from and the brake calipers can be finished in black, yellow, bright red, or edge red. The exterior can also be enhanced with carbon fiber accents as well as visible carbon-fiber mirrors and grille inserts. Like the coupe, the convertible can be fitted with a high-wing spoiler. There are also nine interior and five seat color options to choose from. We opted for a black interior with red seats to match the exterior. A carbon-fiber interior trim package is also available. Since this is just a visualizer, pricing details for the optional extras aren't available yet.

Like its coupe sibling, the 2020 Corvette Convertible is powered by a 6.2-liter LT2 V8 producing 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch. Performance figures haven't been released yet, but the heavier convertible should only be slightly slower than the coupe, which takes 2.9 seconds with the Z51 Package installed.
