The first official photos of Renault's upcoming 2011 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb have just been released. Interestingly enough, they were taken by the car's driver, Jean Philippe Dayraut, who will be attempting to smash the record at Pikes Peak in his first appearance. What we didn't fully expect to see on the car, however, was the massive rear wing. We knew that it would be big, but this is pretty insane (therefore, we fully approve).
These images come from the car being tested inside an aerodynamic wind tunnel during the construction process. We can see the Duster's aero kit with the mammoth two-piece rear wing and matching front splitter. The engine has been developed by Renault Sport Technologies and will develop somewhere in the neighborhood of 850hp. No other specific output and/or performance numbers have been released. Its first test will take place on June 5th and the competition itself will begin on June 26th. Photos courtesy of jph-dayraut.com
