A Jaguar XKR underneath that looks like an Aston Martin DB5 on the outside.
Looking like a classic Aston Martin, the David BrownAutomotive Speedback brings back memories of James Bond and the classic Astongeneration. And with the name of its founder identical to that of the epicowner of the company, it seems legit too. Well, the Speedback, which was justunveiled in England, does have some classy English underpinnings, but notexactly what you’d expect. David Brown is a different rich Englishman, and thisnew car is actually based on the Jaguar XKR.
The David Brown Automotive Speedback is fittedwith Jaguar’s 5.0-liter V-8, producing 510 horsepower and 461 lb-ft of torque. With a six-speed ZF automatic, it is expected to sprint from 0-60mph in approximately 4.6-seconds. A “vision of a classic-looking sports car without compromising modernconvenience and features”, the hand-built car isgeared at aging gentlemen who want the flair of the past, performance of thepresent and a $400,000 hole in their pocket. But for those buyers, it actuallyhas a lot to offer.
