At just over $300,000, if something like the Aston Martin DBS doesn't appeal and classic car ownership isn't worth the hassle to you, a number of bespoke carmakers and restomod companies are on hand to create something to suit your very specific needs. Perhaps one of the most desired is David Brown Automotive.

Aside from the Mini Remastered, a modern take on the classic Mini, the British company is best known for their Speedback GT, a retro-styled cruiser designed to look like a contemporary Aston Martin DB5. Based on the now-defunct Jaguar XK, the gorgeous creation takes more than 8,000 hours to build. But after a long wait, one lucky customer in Asia will soon be receiving their Speedback Silverstone Edition.

One of just 10 examples worldwide, the grand tourer boasts several bespoke features. Resplendent in a customer-specific 'Black Metallic' paint job, the aluminum body takes over eight weeks to complete and is finished by hand. Milled aluminum brightwork complements the dark exterior and goes through a similarly strenuous process. First, it's chrome-plated and then hand-brushed to achieve a subtle look. Exclusive to the brand's performance variants are the monochrome badges which are hand-crafted by artisan jewelers in the UK. The 20-inch 'Afterburner' wheels round everything off nicely.

The engine that lives under the sculpted hood is thoroughly modern. A twin-scroll supercharged 5.0-liter V8 provides motivation, with 601-horsepower sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed, ZF-sourced semautomatic gearbox. 0 to 60 mph is dispatched in 4.2 seconds while the top speed is limited to 155 mph. More of a grand tourer than an all-out sports car, the Speedback GT is more at home on long mountain passes, not a racetrack. Stability control, high-performance brakes, and an active rear differential aid driver safety.

The interior is equally special, with hand-trimmed leather seats covered in rich-looking Oyster-colored leather. The lucky owner of this Silverstone Edition opted to have heating and cooling added to the plush pews. Contemporary open-pore wood is a neat touch, modernizing an old-world trim. Brushed chrome features heavily in the cabin, with jet-inspired air vents (which are strikingly similar to those found in certain Mercedes-Benz models) paying further tribute to Silverstone's aeronautical history.

Open the loadspace floor and a picnic seat folds out theatrically. This particular item was specified by the owner, who also ordered a picnic seat which includes a wool blanket, leather-trimmed flasks, and a whiskey bottle holder.

Founder and CEO David Brown describes this specific vehicle as "the crystallization of what David Brown Automotive stands for; emotive, timelessly stylish motor cars, that marry bespoke coachbuilding techniques and high build quality with modern performance and an exhilarating, affecting driving experience."
